This Inn was built in the 1450’s it was first used to provide lodgings for the Pilgrims who visited Gloucester to visit the tomb of King Edward the 2nd, who died at the nearby Berkeley Castle. It was also used for some time as a coaching house and hotel. Lady Jane Grey was proclaimed Queen here by the Abbott of Gloucester at the time of 1553. It is also believed that William Shakespeare and his company performed here as there once used to be a stage area towards the back of the Inn. Today the Inn is a restaurant, pub and 36 bed roomed hotel.
With history dating back centuries the spooks are sure to chill you to the bone. There is CCTV footage showing a pint being pushed off the table. Staff have reported phantom footsteps in the cellars, cold spots that chill, dogs food bowls being turned over by themselves. There have been old fashioned voices being heard in the night. Come along and see what we can find out.
Included in the price is a carvery meal, snacks and drinks will be provided throughout the night. We will also have use of one of the rooms for the night and use of our equipment.
